Spirit of Margazhi Concerts - Deiva Tamizh Isai - Collaboration with Minneapolis G.O.D. Satsangs

This Margazhi (Dec-Jan) season, Layyasaaram Institute of Indian Arts and Minneapolis G.O.D Satsang transform suburbs in the Twin Cities into the streets of Mylapore and invites members of our community to share a look back at the annual festival of Margazhi, a time when Chennai is abuzz with classical music, dance, veedhi bhajanai, rendering of Pasurams and Harikatha.

Sunday, Jan 15th - Featuring - Bharatanatyam offering by Ragamala Dance Company, Minneapolis, MN

4:30 - 4:45 - Hari Nama Sankirtan 
4:45 - 5:00 - Thiruppavai Rendition in Aradhana Style - Open to All - young, old, amateur, celebrated singers.
5:00 - 5:15 - Ashtapadi Renditions by 'Raga Kids' - A Gopa Kuteeram Minnesota initiative
5:15 - 6:30 - *Deiva Thamizh Isai Vizha* - Classical Music and Dance Offerings by featured artists of the day: Enshrining the compositions of Saints / Poets in Divine Thamizh
6:30 - 6:45 - Wrap up with Mangalam and Hari Nama Sankirtan
Prasadam: Dhonnai Venn Pongal

Venue:SouthShore Community Center, Excelsior MN

There is a feeling of warmth, festivity and positive vibes when such a festival is celebrated in an intimate, home setting. The event will be hosted at various homes in and around the Twin Cities. Details to follow..

We have a terrific line-up of artists from in and around Minnesota and all the way from Chennai to render their art for Deiva Thamizh!

Kolam Competition:

What is a Margazhi festival without Kolam? There will a be a Kolam/Rangoli Competition on Sunday, Jan 15th. This competition is open to ALL Artists. You are invited to bring their own supplies and a drawing board to sketch their Kolam at the venue, while the event is in progress. A panel of judges will decide the best Kolam for the season and dole out a special prize at the end of the season.
